Student Voice

Students are key stakeholders in the process of building a vision on our school, therefore Student Voice needs to be represented in a meaningful way.

School Captains

School Captains are elected from our Upper Primary students. They hold their position for 1 year and are members of the SRC.

In 2010 our School Captains are still to be elected.

Some of the ways students contribute to decision making at Roseworthy:

CLASS MEETINGS

A time when students manage the meeting and discuss any issues students feel need to be raised. The teacher is the facilitator in helping the issues to be moved forward in a constructive way.

STUDENT COUNCIL (SRC)

All classes have representatives at this meeting. Younger students work with older students. Whole school issues are discussed and plans made to implement decision. The Student Council is able to input to the School/Governing Council and Staff Meeting agenda and vice versa. Members attend District Student Leaders meetings.

Governing Council

Provision is made for 2 student representatives on School/Governing Council. They can report on student matters and input on behalf of students on general council business.

Student Initiated Learning

Classes are developing this structure, where students develop a personal learning plan which is worked out with staff and then work through the plan in their own way, using the school and the wider community as a resource.

"Community Service"

Opportunities exist to represent the school on district student forums. Students develop different work groups - e.g. manage the Sports Shed; assist with arts displays; assist with organising events' manage classroom administration; assist with Library management of resources etc.
